Arrest made after Appalachian State student stabbed
An arrest has been made in a case involving the stabbing of an Appalachian State University student earlier this week.
Malik Jaleel Simpson, 23, of Boone, NC, is charged with one count of felonious assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, according to a report from the Boone Police Department.
Police were notified of the incident after the victim, a 21-year-old ASU student, was brought to a hospital emergency room on Wednesday and suffering from a stab wound. The male victim is now being treated at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, police said Friday.
Investigators determined that the stabbing was a part of a large scale fight that took place in an apartment complex parking lot located in the 200 block of Crossing Way.
Simpson is being held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Watauga District Court on June 2, the report said.
