UPDATE: Food Lion exec makes first court appearance after solicitation charges
A former Food Lion executive appeared before a magistrate Friday after being arrested and charged with a sex crime earlier in the week.
Paul LaCroix is charged with conspiracy to commit a first-degree statutory sex offense. Investigators said he was communicating online with someone he thought was offering a 7-year-old girl for sex. He was arrested Wednesday in Hendersonville.
He was arrested Wednesday in Hendersonville after agreeing to meet what he thought was the underage girl at an Ingles supermarket. He instead met up with an undercover police officer, authorities reported.
LaCroix, who is out on bond, has opted to hire his own attorney. His next court date is Nov. 7.
