A brush fire breaks out Saturday afternoon in Carter County


UPDATE 7:45 p.m.

Dispatch says the forestry division has the brush fire on 19E in Carter County under control.

They said the top of the mountain is contained by a gravel road, the right side of the fire can only go about another 50 feet until it hits gravel, and the left side will not be an issue unless it gets windy overnight. Our Storm Track 5 meteorologists say it is not expected to be windy Saturday night.

They said it is under control and no homes or buildings are threatened.

A portion of 19E was shut down, but dispatch said that is now open.


Elizabethton Dispatch confirmed to News 5 on Saturday afternoon that there was a brush fire on the 6200 block of Highway 19E in Carter County.
