Arson suspected in two house fires in Washington County, Va.


Two homes have been destroyed in early morning fires in Washington County, Virginia.

The first call came in around 5:30, Saturday morning to a home on Forest Hills Drive in Glade Spring. When fire crews arrived, they found the house completely destroyed. No one was home at the time.

According to Sheriff Fred Newman, power had apparently been disconnected to the house.

The call for the second fire came in just before 8 a.m. to a house on Monroe Road in Glade Spring. Sheriff Newman said that house was also unoccupied and power had been disconnected.

The Glade Spring Fire Department and Meadowview Fire Department responded to both fires.

The cause is still under investigation, but arson is suspected. Virginia State police have taken over the investigation.
