Former Alpha headquarters available to lease
The former Alpha headquarters is available to lease.
On Tuesday, the president of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership took a tour of the property. City and state leaders were also on hand to look at the facility.
The 5-story building is almost brand-new. It was built in 2011. You may remember, Alpha moved out back in August. Now economic development president Stephen Moret hopes to bring in a new business.
"We would ideally have another headquarters opportunity, or a large professional office opportunity," Moret said. "It's 130-thousand square feet of Class A space. It's obviously a beautiful building. It's practically brand new, a campus style feel here. And it's going to be something that's right at the top of our list of what we promote as we're marketing Virginia."
So far, Moret said no one has expressed interest in moving into the Alpha building. Moret also plans to tour more abandoned buildings in Southwest Virginia in hopes of repurposing them for new businesses.
