Officers say inmate dead after hanging himself at Sullivan County Jail
Officers at Sullivan County Sheriff's Office say an inmate is dead after hanging himself at the Sullivan County Jail.
According to officials, on Friday evening at around 7.30 p.m. corrections officers were conducting a routine headcount when they found a male inmate dead in his cell, officers say he had hung himself.
The officers then called for medical assistance and an ambulance, the inmate was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to protocol with any death of this kind, the Sullivan County District Attorney General's Office has been notified, as well as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Captain Andy Seabolt of the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office says there is no further information that will be released by the sheriff's office, and the TBI is now investigating the death.
