Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson to keynote "Stigma Stops Here" event


Frontier Health, the regional provider of mental health and substance abuse services, is bringing-in a famous face for its foundation gala.

The announcement came as Frontier, celebrating its 60th birthday today, hosted the Johnson City Chamber's monthly breakfast on Wednesday.

Among special events coming up, Frontier's fundraising gala "Stigma Stops Here" on September 29.

It will feature keynote speaker Shawn Johnson, four-time Olympic medalist in gymnastics and current NBC Sports commentator

"She has an amazing story,how she's overcome depression and has a great story about self image as well," said Frontier Director of Development Joy McCray.

Johnson is also scheduled to speak with student at East Tennessee State University hours before the event.

News 5's Julie Newman will be the master of ceremonies for another event hosted by Frontier entitled "Support In Motion" on July 26. That luncheon focuses on foster children- a subject near to Julie's heart. Newman will reflect on her family's role in helping children's lives.
