Shooter's brother: 'He was just a guy He snapped or something'
WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - The brother of the man identified by police as the shooter who killed at least 50 people at a concert in Las Vegas Sunday night said his family "dumbfounded" by his actions.
Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, Eric Paddock said his brother Stephen had no known political or religious affiliation that might have motivated the attack.
"He was just a guy. Something happened, he snapped or something," he said.
According to police, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock opened fire at the crowd at an outdoor country music festival from a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Casino. He is believed to have killed himself before officers breached the room.
"We know absolutely nothing," Eric Paddock said. "This is just--we are dumbfounded."
He offered condolences for the victims and said his 90-year-old mother is still in shock.
"Our family is okay," Eric told DailyMail.com from his home in Florida. "We're sitting in here in our house hoping that everyone doesn't attack us."
He and Stephen were not close, he added.
"There's no rhyme or reason here, it makes no sense," he said.
