SWVa. teen battling cancer gets wish granted thanks to Make-A-Wish, Cabela's

A Southwest Virginia teen battling cancer got his wish granted!

Thanks to Make-A-Wish and Cabela's, Joshua Parker got a brand new pontoon boat. Joshua was diagnosed with lymphoma on Christmas in 2015. The 19-year-old loves the outdoors and fishing.

Cabela's was able to get the boat at a discounted price, so they didn't make a profit. They also gave Joshua everything he needs to go fishing. And they plan to go out on the lake with him to make sure everything works.

"This one I'm going to take on South Holston!" Joshua said.

"I miss seeing them play, it's been a really hard couple of years," his mom, Vienna Parker said. "But just to see them out doing something together being just normal kids - that's what I want."

"Seeing his reaction, it was great!" Cabela's Service Manager, Daniel Lester said. "It gets a little tiring sometimes, you know working in retail, but when you get to see something like this, it makes it all worth while."

Joshua has one more year of chemotherapy left.
