Tennessee Highway Patrol encourages safe driving during holiday
BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Tennessee Highway Patrol is encouraging safe driving habits this Thanksgiving. State Troopers were at visitor centers in our area Wednesday talking to drivers. They warned about the dangers of distracted driving and the importance of seatbelts.
"Our goal is to deter bad driving habits and bad driving behavior throughout our district and our Tennessee roadways," Sgt. Nathan Hall said. "We want everyone to have a safe holiday and Thanksgiving. We want you to get there safely and home."
Troopers also reminded people of a new "move over" law that applies to all cars in the shoulder with hazard lights, not just emergency vehicles.
Sgt. Hall said troopers will be out promoting safe driving habits again on Sunday. That is the day many people will be returning home.
