VA Gubernatorial Candidate campaigning in Southwest Virginia

Virginia GOP Gubernatorial Candidate, Corey Stewart, is campaigning in Southwest Virginia for the next few days. On Saturday night he was the keynote speaker at a Lincoln-Reagan dinner held in Lee County.

Ed Gillespie, Denver Riggleman and Frank Wagner are also running for the GOP Gubernatorial nomination.

News Five caught up with Stewart to ask him about his plans for Southwest Virginia, he told us if elected his main concern will be bringing back jobs.

One of the ways he hopes to achieve this is by eliminating income tax in Virginia. Especially in counties on the Tennessee border, like Lee County, Scott County, and Washington County, as well as the City of Bristol Virginia. He says so many jobs have been lost to Tennessee because of income tax.

"We're going to make sure that people who grow up here can stay here, because there are going to be jobs here," said Stewart. "We are going to see an economic renaissance of Southwest Virginia"

On Monday Stewart will be speaking at a rally at noon in Abingdon, the rally is focused on calling for the repeal of Obamacare.
