Washington Co. Tenn. mayor Dan Eldridge not seeking re-election
The Washington County, Tennessee mayor said he is not running for re-election.
Dan Eldridge said he's enjoyed being the county mayor, but he didn't seek office for a career change. He said he never intended to be in office for more than two terms.
Eldridge said he hasn't accomplished everything he'd hoped for. But he's proud of his work in the Dry Creek flood recovery efforts. In 2012, 25 families in the Dry Creek community lost their homes and belongings during the flood. Eldridge spearheaded community efforts to replace everything they lost, without spending taxpayer dollars.
He's also proud of the capital projects plan, which includes funding for two new county schools.
His term expires in August 2018. Eldridge said he told the commission on Monday night because those interested in running for mayor can pick up the needed forms, next month.
