Washington County, Tennessee preparing for early voting period
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. - Early voting is right around the corner and Washington County, Tennessee is preparing for a high turnout.
The county's election committee is making sure early voting ballot machines are functioning properly and packing them for delivery to the voting areas.
Early voting starts October 19 and ends November 3.
As of today in Washington County, there are over 65,000 active voters. The committee is optimistic many people will turn out.
"We do go by the number of registrations we have. We think it's going to be a relatively high turn out, but we just simply won't know until it gets underway," said Washington County Election Committee member, Jon Ruetz.
The three early voting locations are the Jonesborough Courthouse, the Health Department office in Johnson City and the Gray Commons Area in Gray.
