WEEKEND DRIVE: Woolly Mammoth Days

Woolly Mammoths may not be the first thing that come to mind when you think of Southwest Virginia, but in the town of Saltville, the Mammoth rules!

The Museum of the Middle Appalachians, which houses several artifacts and examples of the remains found in the town, has a fundraiser each year with a mammoth theme.

This year's breakfast will be on January 27th at the Northwood High School Cafeteria. The breakfast menu also has a unique ice age themed twist, with "Groundhog gravy, sabertooth head biscuits, mastodon sausage, ice age eagle eggs, bison bacon.. fried apples groundhog grits coffee and milk."

Following the breakfast, Wolly also makes her appearance, to predict if we'll see 6 more weeks of winter or if spring is just around the corner.
