Elizabethton business owner indicted on child sex charges
An Elizabethton, Tennessee, restaurant owner was arrested Tuesday following his indictment on seven child sex related charges.
Gary Mac Hicks is charged with two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure, three counts of soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of tampering with evidence, according to a report issued by the Elizabethton Police Department.
His indictment follows an law enforcement investigation into Hicks having unlawful sexual contact with a minor employed at his business, the Sycamore Drive In located at 213 South Sycamore Drive. The report from the EPD did not identify the business. Court documents obtained by News 5 said the offenses occurred in June involving an employee who was 16-years-old at the time.
He is being held in the Carter County Jail on a $25,000 bond. The report noted that the case is being prosecuted by the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office.
