EPA approves waiver for 38 states to ensure gasoline supply during Irma

Tennessee and Virginia were among 38 states granted waivers for emergency fuel by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday as a result of hurricane activity impacting fuel refinery production.

The report said the waiver's authority ensures an adequate supply of fuel throughout the country as large-scale evacuations take place for Hurricane Irma while the Gulf Shore regions continue to deal with the effects of Hurricane Harvey.

Road club think tank AAA estimates the average gas price for regular unleaded has jumped 30 to 50 cents in the past week due to refineries having to shut down for crew evacuations.
