Hundreds sign petition to fire Washington County, Tenn. director of schools
Hundreds of people have signed an online petition to have the Washington County, Tenn. director of schools fired.
The petition criticizes Kimber Halliburton for her handling of safety issues on school buses, among other issues. Randy Adams was fired as transportation supervisor earlier this month after Halliburton discovered school bus drivers hadn't been drug tested since 2014.
"All she wants to do is place blame," Rachael Bates, a Jonesborough parent, told WCYB. "Blame is never placed on central office employees - ever - since she has been here."
In an interview with WCYB last week, Halliburton claimed "full responsibility" for bus drivers not being drug tested for three years. Today, she declined to respond to the petition.
"I am not going to begin the practice of addressing social media postings, " Halliburton said in a statement. "As I have always done in the past, I am glad to meet with any individuals to allow them to express their concerns."
