NASCAR tracks welcoming Irma evacuees to campgrounds
Some NASCAR venues are opening up their acres to help those who are fleeing their home states to get away from Hurricane Irma.
Charlotte Motor Speedway has joined Atlanta Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway in opening their campgrounds to evacuees headed north for shelter from the anticipated landfall from one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded.
Those facilities are offering those camping spaces free of charge. Officials in Charlotte noted they will have enough space to accommodate guests from the Southeast and to fans coming into town for the NHRA Carolina Nationals that begin Sept. 15.
