Roads Snow and Ice Covered Wednesday Morning
If you are headed out early Wednesday morning, give your self plenty of time to make it to your destination.
Road crews are out, and most main roads are passable with patches of snow and ice.
Secondary roads are considered snow and ice covered.
VDOT crews in southwestern Virginia are reporting the following road conditions as of 4 a.m.:
- Scattered snow and ice patches on Interstate 81 in Washington, Smyth and Wythe counties, as well as Interstate 77 in Wythe and Bland counties.
- Snow-covered sections of roadway on the majority of primary highways in Washington, Smyth, Russell, Lee, Scott, Wise and Dickenson counties. The majority of secondary highways (routes numbered 600+) in these counties are snow-covered.
- Scattered snow and ice patches on the majority of primary and secondary highways in Buchanan, Tazewell, Bland, Grayson, and Wythe counties.
