Investigators in Washington County, Virginia, are trying to piece together details of an early Wednesday morning shooting.

Sheriff Fred Newman said a man was dropped off outside Johnston Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Abingdon police officers were able to track down the vehicle that the patient was dropped off in and detained the people in the car.

“Our investigation has revealed the male victim was dropped off by two females at the hospital, upon dropping the victim off the females left the hospital. That vehicle was located and stopped by the Abingdon Police Department in the Town of Abingdon. From all indications, the victim and occupants of the vehicle that dropped the victim off are being very uncooperative in regards to where the incident occurred and how the victim sustained the gunshot wound,” Sheriff Newman said in a press release.
