UPDATE: Food City customers contribute $315K toward Harvey relief
Tri Cities customers and other Food City shoppers have stepped-up big in an effort to raise funds to benefit flood victims in the Gulf states devastated by Hurricane Harvey.
Preliminary data shows more than $315,000 has been collected at checkout stands in all of Food City's 121 locations since last week.
News 5 WCYB announced last week a special partnership with K-VA-T Food Stores, the parent company of Food City, to help collect funds that will be split between three different organizations: The Salvation Army, Samaritan's Purse and the Houston Food Bank.
The collection drive will continue through Wednesday, Sept. 6.
