UPDATE: Manslaughter suspect from Lee County captured

Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons confirmed that a Jonesville man wanted in South Carolina for a weekend shooting has been captured.

Joshua Ray Wilder, 32, was apprehended Monday afternoon after Pickens County, SC police put Wilder into a nationwide suspect watch following the Saturday shooting in the town of Easley. He is charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter.

Parsons said Wilder has found at a friend's home in the York community east of Jonesville and was arrested without incident by officers with the Virginia State Police Tactical Team.

A homeowner called police after the shooting which occurred just before 9 p.m. at the home where Wilder was along with three other people. A report from the agency said the shooting was accidental.

Christy Parsons, 37, also of Lee County, was struck in the chest by the shot and later died at a local hospital. Police said Wilder and another witness fled the scene.

Detectives confirmed that a single gunshot was fired from a handgun as the shooter was seated on or at least near a sofa in the den area, the report said.
