UPDATE: Double homicide suspect found dead in Johnson Co., Tenn.
The man wanted for a double homicide near Chilhowie, Virginia, has been found dead.
According to Washington County, Virginia Sheriff Fred Newman, John Anthony Able died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Johnson County, Tennessee.
Newman said his office was notified about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday that Able's body was found off Copperhead Hollow Road in the Butler community.
Authorities have released the name of the victims in a Washington County, Virginia double murder, and the suspect remains at large.
According to Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman, 50-year-old Jerry Wayne Hargrove and 58-year-old Debora Kay Hargrove were killed at a Flatwood Acres Road home near Chilhowie sometime between Sunday evening and Tuesday morning.
Both died from an apparent shotgun blast to the upper torso.
First-degree murder warrants have been obtained for 48-year-old John Anthony Able of Damascus, Virginia. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. He is now believed to be clean-shaven. Anyone with information is asked not to approach Able and to contact authorities.
Sheriff Newman said at a press conference Wednesday that Able is the brother of Debora Hargrove and brother-in-law of Jerry Hargrove.
Virginia State Police and the U.S. Marshal Service are assisting with the investigation.
