A new business in Greeneville has opened with a special mission to help veterans in the community.

Ruthie's Thrift Store is donating its proceeds to organizations that help those that have served our country. The boutique stocks housewares, clothes, books and children's items.

Owner Ruth Ann Buchanan, whose husband is a Vietnam veteran, says it wouldn't be possible without the help of several volunteers.

"Hopefully if this store grows we will be able to help them with money for their kids if they want to go on field trips or need money to get to the doctor or just help them get by," Buchanan said Thursday.

Ruth has already donated some proceeds to the Greene County Veterans Association.

The store is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
