College football player in TX dies from in-game neck injury
A football player at a NCAA Division II school in Texas has died following a neck injury sustained during a game on Saturday.
NBC affiliate KFDX said Robert Grays, 19, a sophomore cornerback for Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas, died Tuesday night after suffering the injury against Texas A&M-Kingsville while making a tackle in the fourth quarter.
School president Suzanne Shipley said in an official statement posted on the school's social media account that Grays will be remembered for his smile and the tragedy has struck the heart of the community.
Shipley also said that counseling was being offered on campus and a school rememberance service is being planned.
