Reports: Phil Bredesen planning run for Corker's U.S. Senate seat
The Democratic governor who carried all 95 counties during his election in Tennessee is planning a run for the U.S. Senate seat.
Multiple media reports including one from The Tennessean in Nashville say Phil Bredesen is expected to announce his candidacy for the seat being vacated by current Senator Bob Corker.
U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, former Congressman Stephen Fincher and Dr. Rolando Toyos have all announced their intentions to seek the GOP nomination.
Bredesen was Nashville mayor when he earned the Democratic gubernatorial in 1994. He lost that race to Don Sundquist. He ran again in 2002 and defeated Republican Van Hilleary, beginning the first of two terms.
