KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Seven Tennessee deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave after they shot and killed a man who reportedly fired shots at a neighbor and into the sky on Tuesday. The Knoxville News Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/2qfxjVN ) the deceased man has been identified as 74-year-old Albert Gagnier. Knoxville police spokesman Darrell DeBusk said in a Wednesday statement that Knox County Sheriff's deputies shot Gagnier after an ensuing confrontation in which the man fired additional shots. He didn't say if Gagnier shot at the deputies. DeBusk says family members and neighbors said Gagnier had been acting unusually recently, and investigators will work with a medical examiner to determine if that behavior played a role. The Knoxville Police Department is conducting a criminal investigation, while the Sheriff's Office is conducting an administrative one. (Copyright 2017 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
