7 deputies placed on leave after shooting 74-year-old man

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Seven Tennessee deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave after they shot and killed a man who reportedly fired shots at a neighbor and into the sky on Tuesday. The Knoxville News Sentinel reports ( ) the deceased man has been identified as 74-year-old Albert Gagnier. Knoxville police spokesman Darrell DeBusk said in a Wednesday statement that Knox County Sheriff's deputies shot Gagnier after an ensuing confrontation in which the man fired additional shots. He didn't say if Gagnier shot at the deputies.
