Back-to-school check-ups and school supplies for kids in need
SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. - Sullivan County Regional Health Department is helping kids get ready for going back to school this week. The goal--keeping kids healthy and getting them prepared.
The health department is performing physicals for kids in need in the area. They will also be giving away school supplies to lend a helping hand.
This is an ongoing event for the regional health department. Not just performing physicals, but also ensuring immunizations are up-to-date.
Director of Operations at Sullivan County Regional Health Department Barry Honeycutt says, "A lot of children do not receive the care either through issues with family situations or transportation...and we try to provide these at the beginning of school to catch them at a time they need it the most."
The regional health department will host its last back-to-school event in Blountville on Thursday. If you are interested, you are encouraged to make an appointment ahead of time. Barry Honeycutt also recommends bringing your child's immunization and shot records.
