Bristol TN Fire Dept. gets federal grant
A federal grant is being awarded to the Bristol TN Fire Department that will equip firefighters with new breathing apparatuses and install fitness stations inside the agency's new facility near The Pinnacle.
A report from city offices Monday said the total $310,500 funding package from the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant program will be allocated two-fold.
The bulk of the money, $253,636, is allocated for 45 self-contained breathing units for officers, while the remainder, $28,636, will go inside the department's $3 million station located across from the large retail area off of Highway 11W that is scheduled for completion later this summer.
