Buy a Blizzard, help support the Children's Miracle Network

Thursday marked a special day for ice cream lovers to get a cold treat for a great cause.

It was Miracle Treat Day at the 14 Dairy Queen locations in the Tri Cities region. For every Blizzard sold, DQ donates a portion of the profits to the Children's Miracle Network which serves hospitals in the region.

This is the 13th year of the event and last year the Johnson City store collected more than $3,000.

The store's owner even has a personal connection to the cause.

"(My daughter) benefited greatly from the research money spent on research and new equipment and those kinds of things. It's a great organization," said owner Michael Harris.

The special day has helped raise more than $4 million nationwide and assisted in the care of 32 million patients, according to CMN data.
