Carnival ride that killed teen in Ohio banned in Tennessee
A state labor official issued an order Thursday banning a carnival ride responsible for a death at the Ohio State Fair from all Tennessee events.
Department of Labor of Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips said in a statement that the step was taken to keep The Fireball from operating in the state with the safety of residents and visitors in mind.
The measure mirrors orders on the amusement ride also taken in California, Indiana and Kentucky on Thursday.
Tyler Jarrell, 18, of Columbus, OH, was identified the man killed when the ride malfunctioned Wednesday night. He had just enlisted in the Marine Corp and was scheduled to report for basic training next June.
