Cooper Standard in Surgoinsville announces expansion, new jobs
Automotive supplier Cooper Standard announced Thursday an expansion of their operations of their plant in Hawkins County.
The investment at their Surgoinsville, Tennessee, facility will include $1 million in new equipment and allow the employer to hire 98 new workers, according to a report from TN Economic and Community Development.
"The automotive sector continues to be a major source of job creation in Tennessee and I'm pleased Cooper Standard has decided to add new jobs in Surgoinsville. This expansion is great news for Hawkins County and brings us close to making Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs," Gov. Bill Haslam said in a prepared statement.
Cooper Standard manufactures a variety of components for auto makers. The Surgoinsville facility makes coolant tube and hose assemblies, transmission oil cooling lines and fuel and break lines, according to the report.
