Discovery Workshop for Downtown redevelopment

A two-day Discovery Workshop for Greeneville's Downtown Redevelopment Plan will be held Nov. 14-15 at the Kathryn W. Leonard Administrative Office.

The public is invited to share their input and ideas for downtown redevelopment during an Open House from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14.

"We hope everyone who is interested in the redevelopment of our downtown will take time to come to the Open House on Nov. 14," City Administrator Todd Smith said. "We're looking for creative ideas to move our downtown forward in a positive way."

Toole Design Group (TDG), the Spartanburg, S.C., firm hired by the town to create a downtown redevelopment plan, will conduct interviews with several stakeholder groups during what they call "open studio design" time on both Nov. 14 and Nov. 15.

Open studio design time will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Nov. 14 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an hour break for lunch Nov. 15. These times will allow the public to stop in, see the progress, ask questions, and have conversations with TDG staff members, according to Town Planner Logan Engle.

Stakeholder groups invited for interviews during open studio design time include:

Public Works Utility Providers Education Downtown Merchants Churches Greene County Partnership Youth Young Professionals While in Greeneville, TDG staff members also will meet with members of the Greeneville Regional Planning Commission and the local advisory committee appointed by Smith to work on the Downtown Redevelopment Plan.

They plan to return with results in December and a proposed plan in late spring, according to Engle.

The Kathryn W. Leonard Administrative Office is located at 129 W. Depot St.
