GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. - The first annual Greene County Back 2 School Bash was a success. Families from all over the Tri-Cities came out to the Greene County Fairgrounds for the event. Haircuts, backpacks, school supplies, health screenings, and more were offered free of charge. There were also inflatable slides for the kids to play, as well as ice cream, snacks, and music.

"Gives some relief stress relief to parents for buying backpacks, school supplies. And it's a little fun day for the school, for the kids," says school board member, Rick Tipton.

"I think it's going to be a tremendous support for parents in terms of just having those supplies ready for students and ready to get into those classrooms to learn," says local teacher and parent, Courtni Donohue.

The backpacks were provided by the Greene County Health Department with funding from the Tennessee Tobacco Settlement Program. Other supplies were donated by the Greene County School Board with funds raised by local churches. Over 1,000 people attended the event.
