Fun Fest display honors Tennessee veterans
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - One hundred thirty-three Tennesseans have died serving in the military since 9/11. A display honoring those veterans is now open at Fun Fest at the Kingsport Civic Auditorium.
"People have a lot of different ways to grieve," said Ernie Rumsby, president of the Tri-Cities Military Affairs Council. "That never goes away. There's always an emptiness. We like to honor them in our way. That's why we bring this display in."
Eleven of the veterans in the display are from our region. Visitors will be able to pay tribute by signing in a book. They can also write messages to attach to the veterans' photos.
The display will be open through 9 p.m. today and all day tomorrow.
