Georgia woman killed in Hawkins County crash


A woman who was a passenger in a vehicle which was hit head-on Sunday evening has died from her injuries.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Dodge Neon was going the wrong way and hit a tractor-trailer head-on on U.S. Highway 11W at the intersection of South Central Avenue.

The passenger in the Dodge Neon, 66-year-old Gloria Jean Barnett of Augusta, Georgia, died earlier this week.

The driver of the Dodge Neon sustained injuries, but there is no word on his condition. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt.

The investigation remains ongoing, and charges are pending.
