Johnson City Police Chief Mark Sirois announces retirement
Johnson City's chief of police Mark Sirois announced his retirement from the force on Thursday morning at a called news conference.
His retirement date is effective February 16, 2018.
Sirois said it was time to step aside and let someone else take the reigns of a department that he said continues to set the bar in local law enforcement. He noted he wanted to stay on through the end of the year to allow the city to hire his replacement.
Sirois began his career in Johnson City in 1992 and was appointed chief in 2012.
