Kingsport library expands online choices with "Libby"

A new smartphone app is giving Kingsport library patrons the chance to checkout out digital materials around the clock.

The new app is called "Libby." It's available for Android, Windows and iPhones.

Users will have access to more than 81,000 e-books, audiobooks and videos. It also uses shared resources from the state.

"It is free from the state of Tennessee and most of the titles are provided by them and shared by all of the libraries. We buy additional titles for best sellers and things and only our patrons can check out those," said Karen Cassell, the facility's reference librarian.

Once selected, the books download to the app for offline reading. Best of all, no late fees. All titles automatically expire at the end of the lending period.
