Local health leaders consider plans as flu season approaches
Flu season is approaching and health organizations gathered together Tuesday to prepare for the worst case scenario.
The Northeast Tennessee Healthcare Preparedness Coalition hosted agencies from around the region. They came for a flu pandemic exercise, going through different protocols that could be implemented depending on the severity of a flu outbreak.
"We have a state pandemic influenza plan so it's kind of seeing how that's going to work for us and kind of working through the different parts of the plan to see if they're realistic," Northeast TN Regional Health Office Medical Director David Kirschke said.
Health department personnel, emergency management and education officials all came for the training session.
