Children are digging up some fun this week at the Gray Fossil Site.

Paleo Summer Camp gives kids the opportunity to work hands on with fossils. They also get to work on other experiments and science-based projects.

Education and Exhibits Director Heather Watson says, "The kids actually get to go out in the back of the site and dig in the spoils piles and actually look for real fossils. In addition to that, they get to do a lot of fun things this week. They'll actually make some plaster casts, examine rocks and minerals."

The Gray Fossil Site puts on camps each summer to get kids interested in the science, and the unique history of our area.

Coming up at the end of the month, the fossil site will be hosting a Fossil and Artifacts I.D. night. Those interested can bring rocks, bones and other items for local archeologists and paleontologists to examine.
