Local students take next step in their education

Several high school seniors have taken the next step in their education by signing a commitment to the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT).

The Elizabethton campus hosted a letter of intent signing ceremony Thursday which honors students who are entering the technical field. It was also an opportunity for students to meet industry professionals.

Students signed into industries including transportation, energy, and manufacturing.

"I've always had a passion to get out and do stuff and make stuff and it'll be a good chance to start and start my own business hopefully in the future and carry on," Preston Henderson said.

Representatives from Snap-on, Train Corporation, and Fiat Chrysler all spoke at the ceremony.
