BRISTOL, Tenn. - 2:00 p.m. UPDATE:

Wellmont Health System officials say 15-year-old Isaiah Chocquette has been treated and released from Bristol Regional Medical Center. They said he is doing fine.

------------------------------------------------------

6:00 a.m. UPDATE. The incident all started when the family of 15-year-old Isaiah Chocquette stopped at the Walmart in Bristol, Tenn.

The family is from New York and was passing through the area to buy clothes.

Chocquette was waiting in the parking lot with his siblings in a car, while his mother was inside the store.

That's when police say an argument happened that caused the teen to leave, climb an embankment and go into the woods around 5:20 p.m. on Friday night.

"He is 15-years-old, but he is severely autistic. We're told he functions on the level of about a 4 or 5-year-old," said Mike Carrier, the Interim Fire Chief.

With below freezing temperature, the search began as a race against the clock.

Several agencies were on scene assisting with the search.

Virginia State Police brought in a helicopter.

Chief Carrier said they used dogs from prisons as far away as Johnson County to help find Chocquette.

It wasn't until seven hours after the search began-- after midnight-- that a group of volunteers found the teen alive.

"He was sitting up. He is conscious and alert which is always a good," said Chief Carrier.

A happy ending to a story that could have ended very differently.

"Fortunately we didn't end up with the worst possible scenario, so we're thankful for that," said Chief Carrier.
