Police said an armed home invasion suspect in Washington County, Tennessee went on a rampage and smashed windows and items in a garage before officers had to use chemical agents to make him surrender.

Eddie Gean Davis, Jr., 26, of Marion, NC, is charged with aggravated burglary, felony vandalism and possession of stolen property over $1,000, according to Sheriff Ed Graybeal.

Officers were called to the home in Gray on Hillrise Road late Tuesday after gunshots were heard. Davis was cornered in the garage of the dwelling and would only grunt and growl when given directives to stop by police.

Investigators said Davis, who caused more than $1,000 in damage to the homeowner's property, reportedly stole an SUV that was found still running just off of Old Gray Station Road near the home.

Davis is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Sessions Court in Jonesborough.
