PETA to put up Nashville billboard 'in honor' of cows killed in crash
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) - PETA said it's planning to put up a billboard in Nashville in honor of two cows killed when a semi hauling cattle overturned on Briley Parkway, according to our sister station, WZTV in Nashville.
The billboard will show a cow's face next to the words, "I'm ME, not MEAT. See the Individual. Go Vegan."
Metro Nashville Police said two cows were killed when the semi overturned Friday afternoon on Briley Parkway near I-40. The road was tied up for hours while crews worked to clear the crash and transport cows.
PETA says the sign is to encourage drivers to go vegan and "spare suffering animals."
"At least two gentle cows died after this semi overturned, and those who survived the terrifying crash presumably ended up under the slaughterhouse knife," PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said. "PETA's billboard urges motorists to prevent these needless deaths by keeping cows and all other animals off their plates."
