Police: Burglar drops wallet at back door of Boones Creek church

A Johnson City man probably thought he had gotten away with a burglary at a local church.

That was until a church member found the suspect's wallet laying on the ground by the back door.

John Larkin, 42, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Sessions Court on one count of burglary, according to information from Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff Ed Graybeal.

The church member who found the wallet later found two broken windows at the Boones Creek Freewill Baptist Church at 6010 Kingsport Highway on Tuesday and then notified police.

Graybeal said that Larkin had been arrested earlier that day after trying to break into a home on Wiltshire Drive and was confronted by the home owner. He was found a short time later passed out in a victim's vehicle after he tried to steal some landscaping equipment.

Larkin was charged with larceny and aggravated burglary in those cases and is currently being held on a $43,000 bond.
