Police charge Greeneville man with choking infant

A Greeneville man was arrested and charged Tuesday in connection with a child abuse case that dates back to last summer.

A police report says Trevor Williams, 23, is charged with one count of aggravated child abuse and neglect. Investigators performing a welfare check said Williams admitted to choking an infant inside his Mason Street apartment in August 2016 after the child would not stop crying and said he was stressed because the child's mother did not attend to the baby.

He is being held in the Greene County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond. State child protective services is also involved in the investigation.
