Police: Johnson City man arrested after pointing gun at store clerk

A Johnson City man has been charged with aggravated robbery after police say he pointed a gun at a store clerk.

According to the Johnson City Police Department, Joshua Washington was arrested Wednesday.

Officers responded to the Roadrunner located at 1001 S. Roan Street on Tuesday. Authorities said the clerk told them that the suspect entered the store and approached the counter to buy a candy bar. When the register was opened, the suspect, later identified as Washington, pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the clerk.

Police added Washington took an undisclosed amount of money from the drawer and fled on foot.

Officers found Washington in the Keystone area of Johnson City Wednesday and arrested him. He was taken to the police department for further questioning. He was later transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held on a $20,000 bond.

His arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
