Police: Kingsport man charged after crashing car into convenience store
Kingsport police have arrested a man who they say crashed his car into a convenience store and then fled the scene.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sunoco on Memorial Blvd. The impact caused extensive damage to building. After crashing into the store, police said that 42-year-old Kelley Brown backed his car out of the building and fled the scene.
A clerk was treated for minor injuries. Officers found Brown at his house later that night. He gave no explanation for the crash and was arrested for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision.
He was released on a misdemeanor citation and ordered to appear in court at a later date.
