Police: Man admits to string of auto burglaries in Carter County

Police have arrested a man who they say confessed to multiple auto burglaries in Hampton, Tenn.

According to the Carter County Sheriff's Office, Jeremy Sanderlin was arrested Wednesday in connection with multiple auto burglaries in the Rittertown Road area between Jan. 24 and Jan. 31. Numerous items were taken in the burglaries, including clothing, power tools, a chainsaw, gift cards, and about $1,000 in jewelry.

Police found many of the stolen items in Sanderlin's home on Browns Branch Road and arrested him Wednesday. He was taken to the sheriff's office where he agreed to speak with investigators. During the interview, authorities say Sanderlin gave a confession in which he admitted to the crimes.

Sanderlin was recently paroled from a Tennessee prison in November 2016 after serving a sentence stemming from similar crimes which occurred in the Stoney Creek community in 2014.

Sanderlin is currently being held in the Carter County Jail on a $19,500 bond.
