Portions of W. Elk Ave. in Elizabethton shut down because of fire
UPDATE, 5:45 p.m.
Neighbors came to the aid of man whose home was in flames Thursday afternoon in Elizabethton.
News 5's Ellie Romano said a business owner saw the structure located off of the 1700 block of East Elk Avenue on fire and got the man out safely.
Portions of the road are still closed because of fire crews needing space for equipment to control the blaze.

A spokesperson for Carter County 911 told News 5 that portions of the four lane are closed in the vicinity of 1788 East Elk Avenue.
The closure was needed due to emergency crews fighting a large structure fire.
